Industry Meets Academia (IMA) is a webinar series, adopted from Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP). Both Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) and Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) are involved in collaboration research entitled Safe and Sustainable Decommissioning of Offshore Structures for ASEAN & South Asia Regions. Currently, the research is led by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) take role to lead the research in Indonesia namely the Work Package 3B (WP3B).
Invitation to all Academia, Industry Player, and Regulator
Engineering X funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering, United Kingdom, and Lloyd’s Register Foundation has awarded funding to a consortium of partners in ASEAN and South Asia to undertake a study on decommissioning of offshore structures in the regions commencing from March 2020 until February 2024.
This consortium involves the following partners:

- PetroVietnam University (Vietnam)
- Newcastle University in Singapore (Singapore)
- Liverpool John Moores University (UK)
- Sea Sentinels Pte Ltd (Singapore)
- Mahidol University (Thailand)
- Institut Teknologi Bandung (Indonesia)
- R.L.Kalthia Ship Breaking Pvt. Ltd. (India)
This webinar’s main issue is in Decommissioning and Abandonment (D&A), with themes such: late-life planning and preparation; rig to reef; facilities hook down, wells making safe, removal, and remediation. Both Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) and Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) are involved in collaboration research entitled Safe and Sustainable Decommissioning of Offshore Structures for ASEAN & South Asia Regions.
This IMA Webinar Series is beneficial to disseminate the research result, as well as, to ensure long-term engagement with the stakeholders and/or external parties, such research community, industry experts, regulators, and wider audiences.
The IMA Webinar Series is expected to open new areas for further research and development in decommissioning of offshore structures, to align as well with the Higher Education Institution (Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi) mission.
